"Children are born with an ability to learn to organise and understand the world around them through play, and make believe. When entering education this tool for learning fails to be utilised and as children grow, the time given over to, 'learning through play' is slowly eroded. Good arts education is vital at an early age for the personal and social development and life long learning of all people"

Vivian Gussin Paley

MakeBelieve Arts is committed to producing workshops and performances that empower participants to increase their self esteem, develop their self awareness, and contribute to their wider perspective of society.

We develop resource packs to accompany many of our programs and aim to foster sustainable creative environments in schools, by offering teacher training alongside our in-class work.

We believe the strength and innovation of our work comes from the fact that we spend time keeping abreast with current educational theory and strive to adapt this theory into practical applications that can be delivered within the classroom. We care about how children learn and believe in creating lessons that are memorable experiences for participants and engage pupils in curricular activity without them realising they are learning.

"MakeBelieve Arts programmes are excellent in the fact that they don't just think about the immediate workshop but they care about the long term and making their drama sustainable."
