Collaborative INSET

Creative Approaches to...
The Curriculum

Outline of the Collaborative programme

Collaborative schools come together for a fun filled whole
day of INSET training - to explore creative approaches to curriculum through drama. Teachers are given the opportunity to take part in theatrical games and exercises
as a way to inspire and develop ideas on teaching the curriculum more creatively.

MakeBelieve Arts can work with over 100 teachers and teaching assistants during these collaborative training sessions. The benefit of this way of working is that we
create groups according to pupils' age group. This way we have all the foundation stage teachers from the
Collaborative programme working together sharing ideas and being part of one Creative Approaches session whilst their colleagues in KS1 or KS2 are likewise sharing with their peers and developing their approaches over the Collaborative INSET programme.

The focus of the collaborative days can be dictated by the schools involved. We normally have a mass warm up session at the beginning of the day, where all 100+ participants are involved in complicated clapping and stamping games that warm them up for the day ahead. Following this, teachers are divided up into groups and spend the morning working with one workshop leader and, in the afternoon, swapping
to another area to ensure that they get the most out of
the day.
