MakeBelieve Arts and Year 6s wade through Transition
MakeBelieve Arts had a swashbuckling day leading 115 Year 6 children from Greenwich primary schools on a voyage through the uncertain seas of Transition.
Making the move between primary and secondary school can be a daunting experience, but the MakeBelieve Arts shipmates were on hand to help. Rather than being marooned in secondary school, these students were being prepared to thrive.
‘I'm a Shipwrecked Year 6 - Get Me Out Of Here!' is our brand new one or two day interactive workshop that works to ease the transition between primary and secondary school.
Led by Captain Liz and her crew, Mary, Mark, Lucy, Debra and Arnie, the children find themselves aboard the HMS MakeBelieve Arts - when disaster strikes! A hurricane descends upon the sailors and they find themselves shipwrecked on an island. They must use creativity, teamwork and clear thinking in order to escape the island - the tools essential to succeed at secondary school.
Working together and in small groups, the students showed great enthusiasm, determination and insight into the skills they'll need to utilise in secondary school. Best of all, they had fun and made some new friends in the process.
Fare thee well, Year 6 shipmates! Secondary School awaits!
