MakeBelieve Arts is thrilled to announce it has been awarded the new Social Enterprise Mark.
This is a fantastic achievement that distinguishes MakeBelieve Arts as an organisation trading to benefit people and the planet. We are also in the unique position of being the first small arts organisation to be awarded the new Mark.
Awarded by the Social Enterprise Coalition and RISE, the Mark identifies businesses that work for the social and environmental benefits of their communities. As Lucy Findlay, Social Enterprise Mark Champion, says, "The Mark is about raising awareness of social enterprise and the benefits they offer...We're very pleased to have such great social enterprises in the first wave of new Mark holders. They have proved that they are businesses that deliver huge social benefits through their services."
As a theatre and education company, social and environmental aims are pivotal to our ethos and culture. Our theatre and education programmes all stem from the idea that whatever we do can be reinvested for the social and environmental benefits of the community. Artistic Director, Trisha Lee, is a Cabinet-appointed Social Enterprise Ambassador. Trisha and the entire MakeBelieve Arts team are determined be a leading example of social enterprise in action.
In the coming weeks we hope to celebrate our achievement of the Mark with an official ceremony and presentation. Stay tuned for more exciting news to come!
