TrainingSeinendan Theatre, Tokyo, JapanDuring August 2003, Trisha Lee was invited to Japan to work with Students and Young Directors from Tokyo on a variety of theatre and education techniques. The work included approaches to Youth Theatre for 11plus age group as well as demonstrations of our work with Primary and Early Years pupils. On the last day the Young Directors accompanied Trisha into a Japanese Nursery where they ran a storytelling session using the Helicopter Technique alongside various other activities including teacher in role and music and movement. There is no history of theatre and education work in Japan and it was an incredible experience for MakeBelieve Arts to be invited to work within the Japanese established theatre culture and begin to play a role in the introduction of theatre and education into this rich and vibrant country. |

A story translated from a Japanese student during the Helicopter ProgrammeAn old, old lady died. Besides her was her granddaughter who loved her very much. She was crying. But next to her sat her grandmother's soul and it was telling her 'Don't worry, I am here, I will watch you.' |
